19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also means he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, took control to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
